Title: Detection of pollutant sources in convective-diffusive problems
Abstract: In this work we will deal with the inverse problem of determining the term source of a problem governed by a convective-diffusive transient operator. It is assumed that the unknown of the problem is formed by a combination of concentrated sources and it is desired to determine the quantity of sources as well as their intensities and locations. The strategy adopted here is to rewrite the inverse problem as an optimization problem, where the sensitivity analysis of a functional function is performed with respect to the set of admissible solutions. From this, we obtain an exact second order expansion that leads to a simple combinatorial optimization problem. Finally, some numerical experiments are performed in order to verify the efficiency of the method described above..
